From George Cranstone
Thanks to George for this update on some of the attractions on offer during the Rambling Weekend taking place 23-25th June 2017.
Why not join us this year when we visit the area of Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswolds just under two hours drive from Guildford?
Enjoy rambling or walking or just visit the market town of Cirencester with its quaint narrow streets, teashops and a profusion of roman antiquities and the Corinium museum. The 15th century parish church of St John Baptist is the largest parish church in the country. A yew hedge planted in 1720, reputed to be the tallest in Europe, is nearby.
The abbey grounds in the centre of Cirencester are also worth a visit and this was the original site of the abbey, which was consecrated in 1176.
There is much to do and see plus some very good walking in the Cotswolds if desired.
The Cotswolds Water Park is close to Cirencester where good walking close to nature can be enjoyed.
Whether you join our walking group or choose individual pursuits we dine together each evening.
We will stay at the Stratton House Hotel just 1½ miles from Cirencester, where there is ample car parking. There is a bus stop opposite the hotel from where you can take a bus into town.
