"The Greatest Showman" will be the first film to be shown at St. Pius in the new series of Film Nights arranged by Una and Tony Corning. Here is all you need to know...
The current Parish Newsletter has a story from CAFOD on the front page - it's a heartbreaking account of a Ugandan mother whose baby died as result of drinking contaminated river water.
The Harvest Fast Day Collections will take place at this weekend's Masses.
Thanks to Una & Tony Corning for this preview of their plans to bring cinematic entertainment back to the hall... by the way, the picture is non-contractual and in fact I can guarantee that the seats will be harder and will need to be stacked afterwards!
We were fortunate to be able to welcome Father Terkura Igbe, visiting the Parish for the weekend of 29th & 30th September. Father Terkura belongs to the 'Spiritans', previously known as the Holy Ghost Fathers. This is a brief summary of Fr. Terkura's warm, engaging and compelling homily, and his brief biography and appeal for support, at the 9.30am Mass at St. Pius.
[If anyone happens to have a photograph it would be good to put it here - please email StPiusInPrint.co.uk @gmail.com. Thank you!]
On Sunday 30th September it was the turn of St. Pius X Church to host a 'Together in Christ' celebration. Together in Christ is an ecumenical association of the Christian churches in Merrow.
This celebration was entitled "Harvest Songs of Praise" and was devised by Frances Allen and Angela Sharpe, and led by Deacon Michael Phillips, who also gave a homily. The scene in the church had been set perfectly by fabulous displays of harvest produce on the Sanctuary - these were created by the floral team under the leadership of Jan Morris.
Sunday 16th September was the last occasion when Rafael and Ciaran could both be part of the music group, before leaving Guildford to take up their studies at university. To mark the occasion, fellow choir members gave both musicians a gift to thank them for their wonderful contributions to our music.
